The Profile of the Islamic Scholar sheikh Ahmed Kaka Mahmood God rest his sou
He was born in the Yallanpey Village near Khurmal Sub-district in Halabja Province in 1950. His real full name is (Ahmed Kaka Mahmood Ali Khidir).
While he was only six to seven years old, was sent to a teaching Mosque (Hujra) in his village and met his first teacher, Mullah Sayid Hussein, who taught him the Arabic Alphabet, the recitation of Quran, tajwid of Quran, and the Islamic teachings. Later he was taught the well-known religious and some other textbooks like (Ahmedi, the Sa'adi Gulistan, Jurjani's Hawamil and Burkawi) by the same religious teacher.
After that, he went to several villages, towns and cities in both Iraqi and Iranian Kurdistan to follow his further Islamic religious studies and Sharia and he was taught and supervised by many famous and prominent Islamic religious scholars in both parts of Kurdistan such as: Mullah Mustafa in Hanaydin Village, Mullah Sayid Najmadeen Taha in Tapi Safa Village, Mulla Baqir Ballak and his disciples like Sayid Mas'ood in Ballak Village, Mullah Muhammed Baha'adeen in the Grand Khurmal Mosque, Mullah Muhammed Milchawr in 1966, Sheikh Nuradeen Mufti in the Darulsalam Mosque in Nawe Village near Halabja in 1976, Sheikh Khalid Mufti in the Grand Mosque (Jamih Al-Kabir) in Halabja, Mullah Muhammed Hababayle in the Darul-Ihsan Mosque in Halabja, and finally his last religious scholar was Mullah Othman Abdulaziz in the Pasha Mosque in Halabja.
Ahmed Kaka Mahmood stayed under the supervision of Mullah Othman in Pasha Mosque until he went to the Halabja Islamic Institute on January 24th 1967, which was run by Mullah Ali Abdulaziz (God rest his soul) and he graduated from there successfully.
He received a degree certificate in Sharia under the supervision of Sheikh Othman Abdulaziz in 1971.
To sum up, His Excellency sheikh Ahmed Kaka Mahmood has spent 18 years of studying, and he allocated this long time of his age to learn about Islamic religious teachings and sharia.
He got married in 1972 and has 9 children, whose names are: Faruq, Irfan, Sumayiya, Nusayba, Huda, Suhayib, Muhammed, Kocher and Hadiya.
At the beginning of 1977, sheikh Ahmed Kaka Mahmood started writing and translating, and his first translation from Arabic into Kurdish was on the existence of God entitled "God from the viewpoint of knowledge" and he published it. Afterwards, he continued on writing as a career and has left 28 scripts after his death; some of his writings are the following books.
(Scholars' sayings and the belief in God, Freedom in Islam, Education in Islam, Worship in Islam, Jihad in Islam, the importance of homage in Islam, Peace in Islam, Politics in Islam, a group of Islamic intellectuals, the law of prison in Islam, the hereafter of the tyrants in Islam, Know the Jews, Socialism or Islam is the solution for current problems?!, Islamists in parliament and ministry, Songs and music in the light of Hadiths, Assessment for the sake of God, the personality of Muslims as it is described in the Quran and Hadiths, the eternal questions… from where?!, to where?! and why?!, Islamic doctrine in the light of the earliest Islamic scholars' understanding, Women and women's affairs in Islam, and Social problems and their solutions in Islam).
The final point of his life that he underwent was writing the interpretation (tafseer) of the Quran in Kurdish properly and briefly. He started the interpretation of the Quran in 1992 and finished in 2005, and it has been reprinted five times so far.
On the 17th of Ramadan, 1407 H. at night i.e. on 17th/18th of May, 1987 he emigrated to Iran along with a group of Islamic scholars form Halabja, Sirwan, Hawraman and Sharazoor who were led by sheikh Othman Abdulaziz, the founder of the Islamic Movement in Kurdistan Region. Moreover, on the 17th of Shawal, 1407 H. which coincides with 14th of June, 1987, they declared the foundation of the Islamic Movement in Kurdistan/ Iraq. sheikh Ahmed Kaka Mahmood was one of the founding members of that movement and he was a member of the party's advisory council at the beginning and then he became the member of the movement's politburo until his death.
In the dawn of 5th of Muharram, 1429 H. which coincides with January 25th, 2007, he died in Halabja, and in a unique funeral, he was buried in Gullan Cemetery in Halabja.
sheikh Ahmed has left several preaching projects after his death in written forms and social media which are now considered as the largest and the most prominent projects in Kurdistan Region. In addition, there is a popular Facebook page in his name which has 2,500,000 likes and followers, and he has also had his own formal website (www.ahmadkaka.org) as well as an Islamic preaching website entitled (www.dangiislam.org).
